RachelK (not to be confused with RachelB) is finishing up her 365 here soon… she asked for some help going out with a bang. So I got this shot… made a print, and got a little creative!
long ago, my original intention was to hit the tracks in a dress… but rain, and snow have impeded the venture… and today was just too dern cold (and still wet) to attempt that!
I did end up enlisting a photog assistant, a little freaked at the idea of my camera on the tracks, on a tripod, and me on my belly… what if I got distracted and missed a train!?
Thanks Andy, for your watchful eye, and not making TOO much fun of me and the whole process!

Despues de visitar las ruinas Incas de Pisaq, me imagino que Hayao Miyazaki debió haberse inspirado en lugares parecidos para capturar la magia de sus castillos voladores y ambulantes.
Esta imagen la dibujé en Perú, Julio 2007 y coloreé en Bogotá, Febrero 2008.

About the building:
The project was started in september 2004 following a review of the design by a panel of Chinese experts. The construction is scheduled to be completed in time to broadcast the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The development is being undertaken by the Chinese Government as part of a plan to redevelop central Beijing with innovative and functional architecture, while preserving historic buildings at the same time. The new building will involve two ‘L’ shaped high-rise towers linked at the top and the bottom at an angle to form a loop, which has been described as a ‘Z’ criss-cross. The total construction cost is estimated at €600 million (0 million). The CCTV tower will employ 10,000 people following completion in 2008. But the construction was daleyted because of the opposition against this buildings cost, so the developers say the building will probably not be completed before 2009. (Source: SkyscraperCity)

Castillo de Bran
Este un monument istoric ?i arhitectonic, situat în Pasul Bran-Ruc?r, la 30 de kilometri de Bra?ov.
Un document emis de regele Ludovic I al Ungariei (1342-1382) la 19 noimebrie 1377 în Zvolen confirm? sa?ilor din Scaunul Bra?ovului (totaque communitas Saxonum sedis Brassouiensis) dreptul de a ridica, conform promisiunii, pe cheltuiala ?i cu me?terii lor, o nou? cetate de piatr? la Bran (promiserunt novum castrum in lapide Tydrici edificare). Cu aceast? ocazie, regele promite bra?ovenilor c?, dac? ?ara Româneasc? va ajunge "în mâinile noastre", atunci vama va fi mutat? de la Ruc?r (Ruffa Arbor) la Bran. Referin?a din textul documentului din 1377 cu privire la o "nou? cetate de piatr?", permite deduc?ia c? fortifica?ia de piatr?, ce urma s? fie edificat? pe acest loc, a fost precedat? de o înt?ritur? de grani?? mai veche. Aceast? cetate, probabil din lemn, va fi fost ridicat? de cavalerii teutoni între 1211-1225. Ea este atribuit? magistrului Theodorikus. În secolul al XIII-lea teritoriul cet??ii Bran a fost supus jurisdic?iei comitatului regal de Alba Iulia.
În anul 1395 Sigismund de Luxemburg, împ?rat german ?i rege al Ungariei, a folosit castelul Bran ca baz? strategic? pentru o incursiune în ?ara Româneasc?, în urma c?reia l-a îndep?rtat pe voievodul Vlad Uzurpatorul, rivalul lui Mircea cel B?trân, vasalul s?u.
În 1407 Sigismund îi acord? lui Mircea st?pânirea castelelor Bran (f?r? domeniul aferent) ?i Bologa. Branul r?mâne sub autoritatea ??rii Române?ti pân? în 1419.
În anul 1427 castelul Bran a trecut din proprietatea scaunului Bra?ovului în cea a coroanei Ungariei, care a finan?at lucr?rile de fortificare ?i de extindere. În 1498 cetatea Branului a fost închiriat? de regalitatea maghiar? c?tre scaunul Bra?ovului.
În 1920, Consiliul Or??enesc Bra?ov a donat Castelul Bran reginei Maria a României, în semn de recuno?tin?? fa?? de contribu?ia sa la înf?ptuirea Marii Uniri de la 1 Decembrie 1918. Regina l-a amenajat ?i l-a l?sat mo?tenire fiicei ei, principesa Ileana, sora regelui Carol al II-lea. Dup? expulzarea din ?ar? a familiei regale, în 1948, Castelul Bran a intrat în proprietatea statului român, fiind abandonat ?i devastat. Castelul s-a redeschis apoi vizitelor publice în 1956, fiind par?ial amenajat ca muzeu de istorie ?i art? feudal?. În 1987 a intrat în restaurare, lucrare terminat? în linii mari în 1993.
De?i a intrat în circuitul ?i folclorul turistic drept castelul lui Dracula, aici turnându-se ?i un film, Interviu cu un vampir, se pare c? Vlad ?epe? nu a locuit niciodat? la castel. Recent el a fost restituit în natur? de statul român lui Dominic de Habsburg ?i celor dou? surori ale sale, în calitate de mo?tenitori ai principesei Ileana. Proprietarii s-au angajat ca timp de trei ani s? nu-i schimbe destina?ia de muzeu. România ?i-a asumat ?i costurile renov?rii ?i între?inerii castelului ?i are un drept de preemp?iune pentru achizi?ia viitoare a castelului.
El castillo de Bran es una fortaleza medieval rumana, que actualmente goza de gran atractivo turístico por su relación con la novela de Bram Stoker Drácula. Situado cerca de Bra?ov en Transilvania, es un monumento nacional y uno de los puntos clave del turismo rumano, si bien su valor estriba en su antigüedad y arquitectura y no en su vínculo con el personaje del conde Drácula, que es ficticio. Vlad, en rumano, significa conde.
