I had a long day waking up at 5 AM to take a series of subways and trains up to Shenzen for some meetings. I had a Chinese VISA, which you don’t need to get into Hong Kong, but I had to use to cross the official Chinese border after getting off the train. I didn’t realize that it was a one-time use VISA, and I had to go to Shanghai the next day. This caused a lot of problems with the Chinese officials, a body of government with which I do not enjoy causing problems.
Anyway, after I got back to Hong Kong after a day in Shenzen, I was hot and sweaty and in the sort of meeting clothes that aren’t great for being hot and sweaty in. But, everything about Hong Kong was still awesome and I had too look hard for things to complain about. The sun was setting, and I made it up to The Peak just in time for a shot.
This was a 5-exposure HDR shot at 100 ISO, and, of course, a sturdy tripod to get all the lights as steady as possible.

I arrived into Thailand this weekend and have been in content-creation mode non stop. I did take a chance back at the hotel to process this one picture I thought y’all would enjoy.
(and yes that sun picture is real… it was burning through the bottom while still streaming light over the top).
This picture is of Wat Arun, a famous Buddhist temple in Thailand. I took it from a really cool little Italian restaurant across the way that is attached to a boutique hotel named "Arun Residence". I will stay at this place next time – be sure to get the balcony room at the top if you come… it’s just over 0 a night.

The Eastern Bloc countries always held a certain mystique to me. Since I grew up during the cold war, I’ve thought going anywhere near the USSR would be like a Star Trek redshirt visiting the Klingon capitol. Kiev, of course, by this time is a much friendlier place to visit. It still held a lot of the old imposing Soviet architecture that made you feel like you are always being watched by a government official. When I would set up to take photos, I noticed many a suspicious eye looking in my direction, as if, perhaps, maybe I was a government official posing as a photographer.
It was quite icy and snowy in Kiev that night. I walked up near the opera house and found this shot. The blue lights inside along with the old Soviet car out front gave it all a very cool feeling.

What the Champs Elysees and the arc de triumph is for the people in Paris
is the Ludwigstrasse and the victory gate for the people in munich. (Pretty likely it was also copied from Paris). I worked there at this place during my study times and it was all the time nice for me to cross the street exactly at this point day and night
